' Welcome to
ANIWOOD contest.
The movie is of course, Titanic. The scene is that pretty famous one of Jack and Rose standing at the ship's bow in that pose.
Got the inspiration when I saw This scan of Cagalli, the pose reminds me of that famous scene from Titanic. So I went to search for a suitable Athrun scan to fill Jack's spot.
Found this Athrun scan
and used it for his body and face, and then this scan for the arm and
hand. Since Cagalli's left hand was blocked by Kira in the original scan, I
used a scan of Luna as
reference. I changed their eyes so that they're both looking forward, as well as
Athrun's clothes colours (since the original colours suck 
).
The background was referenced from photos I took during my vacation a few weeks ago. I was gonna paint it at first, but decided to try vectoring clouds and waves and see what I get. I ended up liking it. I blurred it a bit to show distance. For the railing, I vectored from a screenshot from phase 17, it's the railing from the Minerva.

BTW the 1600x1200 version is overcompressed, there's visible compression artifacts at normal zoom level along cagalli's arm and hand, and parts of athrun's jacket... I had to crop the 1920 version for my 1600x1200 screen. (though thanks for taking the time to even provide a 1600 version, a lot of people don't).

Haha, not too long ago, I was saying to a friend that you would probably do this titanic idea.. either that or a RXJ convert to Zorro thing. Guess I was right..
I love how clean the Cagalli-and-Athrun vector is! It's great how you got it all from various scans, shows how resourceful you are.
The
water is nicely done with all those strips... My only complain is that the light
feels a little too brown... it seems to make the rail flatter too.. I mean, the
two lovers are in a different light from their background... then again, I seem
to be the only one who is picky about that... 
Maybe the rail could be a lighter shade and have a wood grain texture or something? Just a suggestion...

A beautiful vector, creative and romantic. This is awesome. The coloring is fantastic, and I was really surprised to see such a masterpiece. Oh my, this couple has a lot of impact and their closeness is well portrayed in the wallpaper. The scenery is just perfect for them. The titanic idea suited them well.
The background could use some more design, I think... But this wallpaper is really good already. You've done a great effort in putting the scans together. You're awesome.
