I finished watching Jigoku Shoujo the other day, and wanted to draw Ai in a more
realistic style. Also, I just found a new painting program called SAI, which is
kinda like a cross between openCanvas and Painter
, and
wanted to try it out. It's pretty cool, though it's lacking a text
tool....
I used a couple of reference scans for the pose and her face. It's all pretty
much random, as I didn't really know what I was trying to achieve
. It
ended up with a much older version of Ai, in a cross between a semi-realistic
style and the anime style >__<
I couldn't decide on what to put for a background, so did some quick airbrushing
for a vague Torii (the gate to a Shinto shrine), some bushes and sakura
Took me 2 nights, one to get used to the program and one to actually draw (and
redraw DX). Used the default brush tool for everything, 'cause the advanced
settings confuse me
Wacom Graphire 4, SAI.

Whoa, you actually used that mysterious Sai program... o.o
The soft painting looks nice, her pose looks slightly odd and Ai looks way matured, but I like the details on her hair.
She looks so grown up... Very nice work MapleRose! Her pose is somewhat odd but only when you look closely - at first it doesn't show so much. I like the the style you chose it suits her
The
colours and shading are wonderful!
Sai? I haven't heard much about that program. It looks like it works pretty good though! The painting looks great!
