I
worked hard on this to get it finished in time for Halloween, so I hope you
enjoy it!
This was one of the trickiest wallpapers that I have done in sometime. I hope you'll read my explanation (especially if you are going to comment on my wall) so you will understand what I did and choices that I made.
Time: 1 week
Layers: 53 (after the vector was
flattened)
Inspiration: "All Souls Night" by Loreena McKennitt

First off, I vectored this. Rather than leave the kimono a single color I added origami paper from the website PATTERNS (as well as a few off my own that I scanned) to give it more interest. Also, I hated the fish on her obi tie so I replaced it with a sakura instead (that also makes it match her kimono). I went into detail coloring the lantern she's holding as well to give it more of a shimmery feel like liquid. I also gave the Zashiki Warashi a faint glow to give her more of a ghostly feel in the dim light. The stone lanterns in the background were actually a stock photo when it started, but the realism clashed far too much with the vector so I did a combination of a filter, vector and paint job on it to make it fit like I wanted.
