Can I ask someone this? Is V.V. a male or female?

This is the only thing I dislike about Anime / Manga (Well mostly Anime). Sometimes the boys look like females and vice versa.

Want an example? Look up H2O and do a search on Hamaji. I fell in love with Hamaji only to find.....well if you have time...watch the anime and look at the male main character's reaction.
