enetry for the
October competition.
highlighted at
I am DEAD! Who made me? Please, tell me, WHO MADE ME MAKE THIS? Only me on my
own stupitity!
Ok, might as well get on with it ...
Fisrt of, can I please have this as a elite work? I worked on it for ... for ...
[me=calculating] ... 6 days? Wow, and I never realy stayed up and worked on a
drawing for more then 2 ore 3 days. lol (alnost a week, that's a lot
)
Now, let us begin:
I recently foun out about ZONE (the pilot manga for the actual anime and manga
D.Gray-man by Katsura Hoshino ~ isn't she amazing?)
+ Day 1: our new arts teacher tolled us
something about making dress designs this folowing sememster and this image just
poped into my head. The next thing I did? I took out my sketch block, 0.5
mecanical pencil in hand and .... sketch, erase, sketch, erase ... - for the
roses I used just one image reference - the rose on my desk and ... well, I
haven't seen too many ZONE works around so ... Robin-chan's my manekin (?)
+ Day 2: that morning I hardened the
sketch and added a few detales and these sort of things. I the evening, when I
came back from school (i'm dooing afternoon clases) I started inking. Still, I
wanted something a little diferent from what I normaly do so I kind of tied to
coppy Hoshino-sensei's stile and merged it with CLAMP's stile ( I just love
those thick outlines
)
+ Day 3 and 4: the inking has been
compleat
So naturaly, here comes the scaning
After
that, came Photoshop ~ adjustmesnt regarding the lineart and things like that
and then the COLORING [me=dead] Piking the colores was the worst thing ever ...
speciali since I had no color references for Robin-chan and I couldn't make out
my mind on the dress' color. lol
+ Day 5 and 6(today): finished the coloring and added the light. Also, made the bg from a old photo (made by me) and toonded it up in photoshop + a liitle paint. Made the border, a few tricks with the saturation here and there and a few graphic trick I lerned from tutorials (did I mention I had to read 15 tutorials so I could compleate this work? both for drawing and digital coloring?) and ... voila!
I am pleased with myself. Eer since I first made the skech I knew this is going
to be one of my bests
For
Robin I used only one reference image: [link] as for
the rose ... I am repeding myself, aren't I?
Why Robin?
- I recently took a fancy in makind D.Gray-man doujinshis and since ZONE is the
base of it, I said to myself: "Why not?" And I say am am a whole lot
better at drawing girls and well, Robin is a birl and well ... why not her? I
liked her and I tried to picture her in one of those of Hoshino-sensei's chapter
covers. All the covers of the DGM manga are wonderfull and I just had to ask
myself how would Robin look in one of those fanc gown (idea came after I saw
Allen in a elegant suit
)
Why thse colores?
- don't ask for even i don't know, and I'm the artist
Maybe
it's because autum is here and that nice fall sun is making me dreamy. But they
turned out well, didn't they?
Surce of inspiration?
- if a song can be called as a surce of inspiration, the I have one: Guang Liang
(Michael Wong) - Tong Hua (Fairy Tale): link - If you wana' hear it ~ I
personally love it
)
What do I own?
- well, let me see ... the bg, foreground, those golems (I said to myself that
ZONE should have them made in another way. one of them is my for of Timcanpy and
the other is a tese - I wonder if you'll guess), the dress, the color idea (as I
said, there are no image refereces available when it comes to colores so ...
there!) and ... my tablet, computer, mouse and body
Is there something I wish to add?
- she is ether on her knees ore is sitting on something. You decide! But I never
intended to make her standing, but adding a couch ore something would make it
even fuller.
- I added it in the D.gary-am section because it is practicaly the base of the
whole series
Groups! (didn't think I'll forget about them now did ya')

Amazing work, the colors are just superb and the inking is gorgeous, you deserve the elite work, good luck!
Wow! This is really amazing! I can see all you effort on this piece, is so beautiful. Hope to see it in the Elite Gallery!
OMG! this is so beautiful. the details on her dress is so lovely! Not to mention the setting, very nice deco. love the roses. so romantic. great work!
Beautiful. ^^ Like Lady-Lotus said, you can see the effort.
I think the colors are very well chosen (except for the blue hair... it doesn't fit the yellows/greens/reds. Maybe tint it slightly greenish? although I guess it would be a challenge since the character erself has green hair? I don't know D-Gray man though, so...)
Wow, I don't usually pay much attention to the doujinsh but this one caught my eye. It's really beautiful! Great attention to detail and lovely colours, this is truly a piece of art! You are just talented at eveything, aren't you ?
Nice
work!
I'm not very fond of the way you did your lines, but I love the coloring! The shades in the roses especially stand out. Great work!
Wow simply awesome. I like the way it's kinda grundgy in spite of the bright colours. Definitely gonna have to addyou to my watchlist ^-^
wow good job ^^ wow how do u ink like that O_O because everytime i ink it goes blah coz keep on missing the joins T^T any tips on that? btw ur a good ink artist ^ ^ and i think that this would look better as a inked work (like ur other ones ^^) but it is still very good ^^ wow cant believe u can fit so much detail in an A4 paper O___O i tend to find it hard to do detail in small pics
btw job well done ^ ^ oh ur art teacher O__O well ur lucky
my art teacher (suprisingly) doesnt teach us skeatching work
like urs and dress designs ^^ mine just throw us a peice of work and espects us

rose
i cant draw them O__O now to think of it i better use a refrence like you ^^
oh love the back ground
*glomps* i wish tha i can do backgrounds *sigh*
+fav ^^
OMg... looong description! @_@
But lovely doujin! Beautiful job on the flowers and the girl's dress. The amount of time that you spent on this one really shows! I do think that her hair would benefit from a bit more shading because it lacks the depth that the shading on the roses and the folds of her clothing have. Keep up the good work though!
Your hard work pay off
this is
nice!
Keep it up and thanks for sharing
wow!
kewl drawing! ill participate to and ill have to try really hard since its so awesome!
fave!
could this get any cuter? lol
Wow! I'm surprised you drew this. O_o This is just incredible I mean. Such a beautiful scenery and your painting is way better than mines. DX
Your ideas are always so creative when it comes to you drawing and I'm always so impressed by your colourings either in monochrome, lineart, or colours. This is definately going to be a **very good* highlight, but I'll add that later since I'm lazy at the moment.
Lovely wall ^^
the drawing is really wonderful
the
art with the flow of colours and the overall design is lovely
i
like the composition of the background and the roses add a nice touch
the
colouring is done really well and i like the concept
lovely work ^^
o.O zOMG! *looks at all the pretty details* *faints*
Your works keep getting better and better... I'm speechless
Congratulations and keep it up!

Another beautiful piece of artwork! Truly amazing! 'I'm pretty good at drawing myself & you really have inspired me!
*favs*
This is another stunning piece! Gah I wish I had the talent (and patience) to create something as lovely as this!
Thanks so much for sharing!
awesome! ^^
!
nice details, n the roses u put in it--good works
wow that's good. I love the deepness of the red roses and the contrast of her pale pink dress.
OMG! That's awesome! Looks so real I wanna cry! (sniff...sniff...)
