Not my scan. From the front cover of Otaku
Vogue magazine
___________________________________________
Eeeeeppppp! No, don't get bedazzled by this look. Yup, it's a doujinshi of
Ayupan (anime version of Ayumi Hamasaki) in magazine illustration style.
First of the first, thanks very much to everyone for coming to my party here.
Today (13th July 2007), as known to all, it's my 1st anniversary of my stay in
Minitokyo! YAY!
. Not
only that, to add vibrancy to this celebration (geez........it's like a
magazine-launching ceremony.....
) , this doujinshi is specially dedicated to my everlasting Idol Star
Ayu-sama [Ayumi Hamasaki] ^__________^
And not to ever forget, I would like to express my infinite thanks to
Fireflywishes for her help in transliterating this "magazine's"
English name into Japanese's Katagana. *bows*
(My.....why am I so excited at the beginning......?
)
Presentation begins here>>>
The whole concept of this creation is fame. The 'magazine' is an inspiration of "mass media", while this magazine is about mainly fashion in anime, ranging from latest design in anime, action figures, to cosplay as well. Thus, true to the fact, Ayumi Hamasaki is the leading trend-setter of fashion in Japan as well as in J-pop.
Meanwhile, in this rather catchy title "Ayupan's Pop-Secret Style", the 'pop secret' is twisted from the word 'top secret'. Pop as in her genre role, while 'Secret' is the title of her latest album.
On copyright issue, I have check through the internet, and found there's no such thing as 'Otaku Vogue' yet. Errr....you may say I'm the founder of this magazine lol~ (but just the front cover only) *chuu...*
In this main object, this Ayupan is borrowed from this picture:

And what you see in this doujnshi is but a modified and redesigned version.
Here, I had to change certain stuffs so as to ensure a worthwhile originality.
Though not a simplified version, the design is an expression of *ahem* her
majestic success as well as avant-garde
(Best of all, I hope she would accept my design too
)
As you could see here too, through comparing with the original image, you might notice Ayupan in doujinshi is smiling (many Ayupan figures never smile, though)
Materials used: For the first
time, this dojinshi is done fully with 2B 0.7-sized lead mechanical pencil.
Thus, the result is simply contrasting compared to my previous works: smoother
shadings.
A4 Art block paper, black pen, cotton swab, 2B 0.7 mechanical pencil, black
marker pen, eraser
Timed consumed: 1 week + [Research, idealizing, sketch, finishing touches]
A) Highlights:
Ayupan's eyes:
In bid for a realistic result, her irises were done using cotton swab rubbed
with pencil lead. Next, from the pupils, the blackened cotton swab is gently
dragged, thus creating irises' lines. Meanwhile, the white reflection is done by
lightly rubbed with an eraser in just one go on a spot.
B) Important Notes:
Seriously, although she looks smiling, her eyes are like>>>
, but
I feel I can't help either, for almost all Ayupan designs have similar facial
expressions.
C) Pondering questions:
- Is her head looked a bit 'longish'?
- Compare her hands in the original picture and my doujinshi, will her arms look
too thin if I follow the same size as in that original ones?
- What do you think about the folds at the skirt? Does it seem 'flat'?
For your information, the leaf (with a dragonfly) on her hair is a hairpin, inspired by geisha's kanzashis (seasonal hairpins). And which is coinciding with this month July, the kanzashi features a dragonfly across swirling water.
Comments are very much needed and shall be appreciated, for the sake of
Ayu-sama!
Arigato Gozaimasu!~ ^___________^

First of all, happy anniversary! One year in mt already, time passes by so fast! Feels like you just joined mt
Anyway, kawaii ayupan! She looks so so so cute i wanna pinch her cheeks! You probably won't let me do that though
Unless if the small picture doesn't show up, here's it
Cool~ I can't believe you did all that research O.O
Where do you find the patience?
And the words!~ I like your calligraphy~
Good job on the eyes, they look awesome ^^
Though the hairpin kinda looks... How should I put it... Unnatural? It kinda looks like it's just floating there and not actually on the hair? Do you understand what I mean?
Sorry... I don't explain really well
But nonetheless a Great Job! ^-^
OMGosh
cool. That looks like one of those mad magazine dudes.
I like all the addition to her clothing, looks rich. GJ GJ
HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY OF YOU BEING HERE IN MT!
Don't
cha feel proud of urself?
Lol you should be a creative director one day, cause your artworks are so creative and stylish! Especially this one! Ayu's eyes are soooo big, like longan
Wanna poke 'em out
*koko-chan guards ayu* Lol ok ok
Overall its very nicely done ^^ I'd love to read this if this were a true

perfectly said
! you should release an artbook O_O!
great job! <333
Happy 1st anniversary!^^ Koko-chan.
There's something slightly disturbing about her body proportions but I love it. Ditto yay for 1st anniversary! To respond to your ponderings her eyes are really quite freaky, but still adorable; her head seems a little large but it matches the eyes; the way you've made the hands is better; I would say the folds on her skirt are well done as well (then again I can't draw) and I wouldn't use the word flat. Overall great job!
hahax..! happy anniverary ren-kun~~~ too bad i'm a senior here!
hee
hee~ like 34 more weeks than you!
but
kawaii doujin desu~ really something else~
really
cute design, and it looks like a graphiti art, hahax..! putting all the stuff

Happy 1st aniversary...^^
I wonder how long it took to draw that...O_O
I wish I could draw as well as that...
thanks for the share!^^
Great job...
Omedetou! Happy 1st Anniversary in MT!
*party poppers everywhere*
The art is really good!
No words beyond my vocabulary can describe just how incredible it is!
Ayu's anime potrait figure is so nice!
I can't even believe this was done by hand, it just looks too surreal.
Her outfit is really cool too!
Once again, Omedetou!
Great job!
It looks really great and beautiful
Anyway, Happy 1st aniversary! :]
Lol. Seriously looks like her
!
ahh cute ^^ Nice shading, and love the details in her dress ^^ I also like the different fonts and text. This would look awesome coloured
Wow, I think your version of the Ayu-pan looks more prettier than the original one. ^^
The details and shading are simply great. Very nice and neat too...
Simply love the way u draw. Lol....
Though it's a bit late now. Happy anniversary!
Nice work. I do like the character the most of course ^_^. I do think that there's a little too much text, and it takes up a little too much space in the composition. Reducing that element, I think the look would be cleaner and more effective. Other than that, well done. The character is bold and strong. Oh, and the "Not my scan..." confused me at first :P.
first of all i will say, sorry for not being able to attend the celebration, but nyaaaa~ i was first to wish u a great time! so don't forget that!
jk
the shading is very decently done and nyaaaa~ so elegantly done too!
outlines are perfectly done, more like a print too! yatta! the design is very nicely done! *claps* must be used as a cover of a magazine! yay! great work Koko~chan!
