A water color that I did while I should have been doing homework. It didn't take that long, maybe about 3 hours or so. I originally wanted her to be underwater, but I thought that she would blend in to much with the background, so I just made it all yellow. Also, I wanted her eyes to be red, but I didn't have any red water color, so I just made them yellow too. Also, I had a really good looking blend of skin tones, but I had to redo it a few times so her skin is not the greatest either. I do think that it could have been betteroveral, but it is pretty good for a nights work. Maybe I will remake it sometime. Enjoy!

Oh my gosh vicky this is so pretty i love it and the colors and her face is so pretty really your so talented.

Overall I think this is a strong piece, yet there are some elements that could be improved. I believe that her eye appears somewhat unnatural because of the high contrast of the iris. This would be diminished had this been a frontal portrait, but the profile view adds to this unnatural feeling. Also, I think that the "floating" of her head in the piece lessens the strength of the composition. I would have recommended to fill the background entirely with color as opposed to the more localized choice.

As such, the compositional elements of this piece could be solved in part by cropping it closer to the face. However, I think you have done quite will with your color choice, and it gives the face a bold quality. I think that had you chosen to extend the neck and show perhaps the shoulders as well, the painting would have stronger effect.

Still, your strokes are well controlled, which is important. So the hair is very well executed, and the blending of colors in the face is very well done too. Moreover, the anatomy of the face is accurate and bears no awkwardness (with the exception of the eye). I think you have done well with this, and I would love to see you attempt this piece a second time.

If you had that inclination, I would not recommend trying to "fix" this piece. This one is finished. But you could always attempt a second version anew.
