Done for Paint-o-Rama's opening contest.
Meh, I wanted to try out digital painting, so decided to take on this contest. Used candy-chan's tutorial for stock paint-overs.
Scan: wolf girl by yin
(since scan is in the "unknown" category, I'm submitting my wall here
too)
Valley-thing (found via Google): [link]
Cliff is also found via Google (I didn't save the original though)
Sky is rendered with Terragen. Yes the horizon is slanted, I like it better that
way!
Layers: 45 or something
Originally it's all natural-coloured and greeny, but thanks to Chloe-chan's suggestion, adjusted hues to make it fit scan better. You can see my past version and attempts here: First Try at Painting
I tried to add some motion lines, I'm not sure if it looks right or not since I've never done something like that before. And the shadow looks wrong and weird, I know... and the cliff looks too smooth, I tried doing textures and failed miserably and made it look worse, so I took it out. This is also the first time I've attempted to extract anything (I usually vector), so hopefully I managed okay. I tried not to rely so much on the smudge brush... but sadly, I gave in to the temptation a few times...
Also thanks to supermonchi and mickyoko for their help. I tried... but I still
can't get it quite right
; Ah
well, hope I have more luck next time...
Oh yeah, as for the tutorial, it's a whole bunch of screencaps right now, too
lazy to put words and stuff and put it together right now... maybe later (much
later). Besides, a whole lot of this is trial and error (mostly error
; ),
not sure how much you'd learn if I did make a tutorial
[Edit] Tutorial can be found here.
Woohoo, finally a button to spam with!

I like it, it's a kool wallie
I must admit it... When you asked for help while doing this wall, well I kinda downloaded one of the versions, (not sure the forth or fifth) And set it as my wallpaper. Now, I'm just happy you've finally submitted this work to MT. I think it's gorgeous, now that you added the slight feeling of falling, the fox girl looks more convincing! Thx for sharing!
An interest wall. O_o
Wow! I just like how you composed it. It seems interesting though how the she-wolf is jumping down and the view is nice even though it's a wasteland. Though the picture almost looks like Okami when I see it.
Well
good luck in the contest. ^_^
Yay it's finished! Looks good, much much much more refined than the first draft. Nice choice of scan and nice background idea, good luck with the contest! ^^
Ooo...Looks cool!
Well, you know about the shadows...they're too thin, try making them a bit wider maybe? I really like the foggy stuff you have around and the view is great! Good for a first try at painting. XP
It's ok for starters to use the smudge tool but as you progress in digital painting you'll prefer blenders in painter, or just use low opacity brushes (dotted or basic round) to achieve your desired look and effect. Smudge tool is often avoided in digital painting for it usually creates blur and reduces texture. Well, good luck on your other works.
Kyaa. That's really pretty. I can't believe you changed the green scenery to a sandy looking one
Really pretty
the colour scheme suits her well and i like how everything looks nicely composed
