This wallpaper was basically an exercise in learning some coloring and shading techniques. I turned an unknown black and white manga scan that I had into a greyscale and then used liquid ink in Corel Painter to re-color the girl. The background is supposed to be just some generic hallway with a door that is slightly open. The bg and the border were made in paint shop pro using the vectoring tools with airbrushes for the lighting effects. Enjoy.
Note: I can not recall where I got the manga scan from so if anyone has any info, please tell me and I will update this description accordingly.
EDIT:
A comment was made regarding the placement of the border. Some may feel the
border belongs in the very front. I however, disagree. I don't think the
wallpaper would look better with the border in the front and doing so just
because "that's the way it is done" is an assinine reason. Overlaying
the border on the girl makes no sense to me because I think it would only
distract the viewer from the main focal point. In my opinion, doing something,
especially in the field of art, simply because it is the accepted method shows a
lack of style. If you disagree with a particular element, at least back it up
with a specific reason.

really nice coloring job. really nice. while i feel the background perspective is off, and the border should be in the very front, this is still a solid image. very good.
Love the coloring (Very vibrant. I bow to you Painter skillz)
Love the character used (What better way to work through Painter than with a beautiful girl to work with.)
I like where you put the border. Its out of the ordinary in a way.
Your a LITTLE off on your perspective but thats not so much that its an eyesore by any stretch of the imagination.
Great job. Much praise for this work.
incredible color job!
I cant believe that it was a B/W image before you painted it.
I hope we see more of your works
thank you for sharing it with us
Great job on the colouring. But I don't really like the bg. Sorry to be harsh, but it's a shame that she has to live in such generic bg. A simple cloud effect with a few splashes of colours would have been better than this.
But the point of the exercise was colouring, no? once again, great job on that.
beautiful scan
Oh man.....she is amazing.....!
what a great job!

wow! sexy china girl! thank you very much!
Wonderful wallpaper, chinese dresses are the best
cool

!
i try and try but i never got a result like this one! 'bowing down'
Oh wow that is so well done!
Great looking girl and the colors are AMAZING!
The feckles really add to her cuteness.
I love this wallpaper. I like the mood that the central figure sets as a waitress.
This was a B/W pix ? Man, you have a real talent here my friend. One, you chose some really pleasnat colours. They go well w/ the lassie here. The colours are bright, who needs a cup of java when I can look at this submission.
the lassie wearing the Chinese dress, very, very sexy ;-) !
If you were to chose a white B/G, the lassie would stand on her own. I think a Chinese B/G would compliment her more.
Regardless, you did one Hell of job ! :-) !
My hat's off to you. ;-)
Great work of colored. Congratulations, continue this way. And good detail the edge placed in the background, behind the girl. Thanks for sharing it.
